Cartridge Heaters
A cartridge heater is a heavy-duty industrial metal tube-shaped device with an electric heating coil enclosed, usually custom manufactured to a specific watt density, based on its intended application. These types of heaters are typically manufactured as low watt density, medium watt density or high watt density models. Each model offers a different approach to heating and covers different heat applications. The primary use of cartridge heaters is in the following industries: manufacturing, automotive, laboratory, or food equipment.
Low Watt Density Cartridge Heaters provide localized heating in processes requiring close temperature control such as:
- Packaging and Labeling Machines
- Hot Stamping
- Plastic Injection
- Glue Guns
- Wax Pots
- Other low temperature applications
Medium Watt Density Cartridge Heaters are a value alternative to High Watt Density Heaters. They are the optimal choice for a high temperature that do not require an integrated thermocouple, precise wattage distribution, are less than 65 watts per square inch on the heater sheath, and have lengths greater than 7 inches. They are used for:
- Heating of Manifolds
- Heating of Dies
- Heating of Platens
- Packaging Machines
- Injection Molding Machine
- Extrusion Machines
High Watt Density Cartridge Heaters provide excellent heat transfer efficiency, high operating temperature and long life and they are used for:
- Heating for Press Tools
- Thermo-Sealing in the Food Industry
- Heat Printing
- Heating of an Engine
- Heating of a Braking System
